Born in 1965, Richard spent his younger years mostly in
the care of older siblings. His father passed away at the age
of 48 when Richard was but 2 years of age. The author
believes that this has given him a great sense of family and
made him determined to be “father of the year” every year.
Like many parents, his book ideas come from bedtime
stories with his children. This collection of mixed up animals
sprang from nightly rhymes and making up funny names of
animals to fit the rhymes. When his children giggled each
night until mommy came down the hall to say “lights out” – it
was too late; a Kangaraffe and its friends had been let out
of their imagination…and into yours.
